Hopkins, 79, of Athens, died Monday, August 8, 2005. Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late L.G. Hopkins, Sr. and Lula Tolbert Hopkins. He was a member and deacon of Edwards Chapel Baptist Church and was retired from Westinghouse. He was a veteran having served in the Navy during World War II. Mr. Hopkins was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Hopkins and L.G. Hopkins, Jr. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Adams Hopkins; children, Steve Hopkins, Marietta, Susan Kubitz, Gainesville, and Jeff Hopkins, Atlanta; sister, Farrah Wages; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 10, at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home Chapel, West, with the Revs. Clark Ivey and Jack Segars officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, West, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
