Horn, postmaster at Whitehall for the past 30 years, died in a local hospital Wednesday night at 8 o’clock. Mr. Horn was 68 years old and had been ill for five days. Services will be held Friday afternoon at 5 o’clock from Bernstein’s Chapel with Rev. Hubert Flanagan, pastor of St. James Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Oconee Hill cemetery, Bernstein Funeral Home in charge of arragagements (sic). Pallbearers and an honorary escort will be members of Athens Lodge of Elks. Mr. Horn is survived by his wife, Mrs. Frances Horn, Whitehall; two sons, Charles Horn, Athens, and Jimmie Horn, Chattanooga, Tenn.; two brothers, Harry Horn, Monroe, and Clarence Horn, Los Angeles, Calif. Mr. Horn was a native of Keokuk, Iowa, where he attended grammar and high school and later attended the University of Illinois. He came to Georgia in September of 1908 as president of the old High Shoals Manufacturing Company, one of the old textile concerns in this section. He remained with that concern until it was destroyed by fire in 1928 and then moved to Whitehall. A person of retiring nature, Mr. Horn was noted for his generosity and sincerity. He had a great many friends throughout this section by who he will be greatly missed.
