Death Takes Hugh
Asbury Huggins
Early Wednesday

Hugh Asbury Huggins, one
of Athens’ best known business
men, died at his residence, 1045
South Milledge Avenue, Wed-
nesday morning at 7:10 o’clock.
Mr. Huggins was 62 years old
and had been ill only a few
days. 

   Services are to be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o’clock from the home.  Dr.
Harvey C. Holland, pastor of First Methodist church, officiating.
    Interment will be in Oconee Hill cemetery.  Bernstein Funeral Home in charge
of arrangements.  Pallbearers will be Lee Morris, Brlantley Dozier, Glenn Davis,
Sidney Boley, H. Paul Williams, M.B. Wingfield, VanNoy Wier and Dave F. Miller. 
   Surviving Mr. Huggins is his wife, Mrs. May C. Huggins,; three sisters, Mr.
J.C. Chandler, Millen, Ga.; Mrs. Albert Harper, Glendale, Calif., and Mrs. A.L.
Wier, Greenville, S.C.; and one brother, Percy L. Huggins, well known Athenian.
   Native Athenian
   A native of Athens, Mr. Huggins had lived here all his life.  He was a
member, long prominent in the affairs of this city and section of the state. 
Mr. Huggins was a member of First Methodist church and interested himself in all
the activities of that institution.
   For many years on of the city’s best known and most popular business men,
during his life here he made a legion of friends to whom news of his passing was
a source of deepest regret.  Mr. Huggins was always ready to serve his community
in projects looking to the betterment of his home section and gave unstintingly
of his time and resources to further any move of civic nature.
