THE FUNERAL OF
  MRS. W. B. KENT 

Remains Laid to Rest in Oconee Cemetery Sunday Afternoon 
        -----

Sunday afternoon at half past four o’clock at the residence of Mr. F. P. 
Griffeth on Lumpkin Street occurred the funeral of Mrs. William B. Kent, of 
Mt. Vernon, GA, who passed away Saturday morning after an illness of several 
weeks. 

A profusion of sweet flowers covered the casket, the beautiful testimonial of 
sorrowing friends, who felt deeply the loss sustained in the death of this 
noble your matron. 

The services were conducted in the presence of quite a number of  sorrowing 
friends by Dr. W. H. Young, pastor of the First Baptist church, of which the 
deceased had been for many years a member. 

The choir, consisting of Miss Elise Edwards, Miss Marguerite Vonderau, Mr. 
Gaissert and Mr. T. S. Mel, sang sweetly the hymns, “Asleep in Jesus,” “Rock 
of Ages” and “There is a Home.” 

Dr. Young, after reading the scripture and offering prayer, preached a funeral 
sermon of rare beauty, in which he paid lofty tribute to the beautiful life 
that just closed. 

In the quietude of the summer evening he mourners gathered around the open 
grave in Oconee cemetery, and by  tender and loving hands the remains were 
laid to rest.
