J. LYNDON The Banner, Athens, GA, Friday morning, January 16, 1903 Transcribed by C. Epps Bond, March 24, 2006. THE FUNERAL OF MR. A. J. LYNDON Held Monday Morning at Ten O’clock The funeral of Mr. A. J. Lyndon was held Monday morning at ten o’clock at the residence on Prince avenue in the presence of quite a large number of sorrowing friends. The services were conducted in a most impressive manner by Rev. Troy Beatty, rector of Emmanuel church. The choir, consisting of Messrs. T. S. Mell, J. D. Mel, Miss Maude Merriman and Miss Katie Jester, sang sweetly the hymns, “Lead Kindly Light,” and “Nearer My God to Thee.” Miss Merriman sang a beautiful solo, “Saved By Grace.” The casket was borne to the hearse by the pall-bearers, Messrs. D. D. Quillian, J. A. Hunnicut, F. . Upson, W. A. Mallory, W. T. Bryan, C. H. Newton, W. H. Davis and T. L. Mitchell, and the remains were laid to rest in Oconee cemetery. The death of Mr. Lyndon removed a kind father, a loving husband, a good citizen, who will be sorely missed by his friends and loved ones.
