Born in Clarke County, he was the son of the late Roy and Floretta Freeman Mauldin. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army, and had worked for RSE Enterprises for ten years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards with the Over The Hill Gang, according to loved ones. Mr. Mauldin was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and grandmother, William and Molly Freeman. Survivors include a son, Michael Mauldin, Crawford; daughter, Leann Mauldin, Athens; fiancé, Tina Compton; sisters, Pat Shedd and Pam Barrentine, both of Crawford, Terri Hanley, Commerce, Starr Camp, Marietta; brothers, Cecil Mauldin, Crawford, J.B. Howard, Comer; great-grandchildren, Mallory Mauldin, Madison Mauldin, Makaylee Barber, Brylie Barber and William Ayden Barber. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 11, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Crawford, with the Rev. Chuck Tatum officiating. Pallbearers were W.R. Long, Don Christy, Tracy Wilson, Bo Huff, James West and Kenneth Smith. Burial was in Winterville Cemetery.
