Mitchell, one of the most prominent citizens of Athens, was found dead on the floor of his bed room. He had died during the night from a stroke of apoplexy. Judge Mitchell was a confederate soldier, losin (sic) gan (sic) arm at the battle of Kennesaw mountain. After the war he became clerk of the city council of Athens, a position which he filled for many years. He has for the past ten years been in the insurance field, and had only recently organized a mutual life insurance company, of which he was the president. Judge Mitchell is survived by his wife and four children. The remains will be interred in Oconee cemetery tomorrow afternoon.
