Quite a number of sorrowing friends gathered at that hour to pay their tribute to the memory of the sweet young lady who had been called to her celestial home. The casket was borne to the chancel by the pallbearers, Messrs. G(?). E. Stone, J. H. Dorsey, J. Y. Dunaway, Vincent Matthews, C. F. Bailey and T. W. Reed, and the choir consisting of Mrs. H. E. Martin, Mrs. Alex Hargrove, Mrs. W. F. Betts, Miss Ida May Dorsey, Messrs. J. E. Gardner, J. H. Huggins, W. C. Weatherford and I. A. Bradberry, sang sweetly the opening hymn, “Bear me away on your snowy wings.” Prayer was offered by Rev. A. J. Sears, pastor of Oconee Street church, which the Scripture lessons were read by Rev. Luke G. Johnson and Rev. A. J. Sears. The choir sang “There is a Land of Pure Delight,” after which Mr. Johnson preached a most beautiful and appropriate sermon. After prayer by Mr. Johnson, the choir sang the closing hymn, “Lead Kindly Light,” and the casket was borne to the hearse by the pallbearers. The remains of Miss Morris were carried to Cherokee corner where they were interred in the presence of a large number of sorrowing friends.
