MISS WILLIE NELMS HAS PASSED AWAY Monday morning at eleven o’clock at the home of the father of the deceased in East Athens the funeral of Miss Willie Katie Nelms was conducted by Rev. Ellison D. Stone, and the remains were interred in the family burial ground at Tuckston. Miss Nelms was an attractive young woman, and had been ill for the past eight weeks. Her death caused great grief among a number of warm friends. She had been for the past ten years a consistent member of the Methodist church and died triumphant in the Christian’s faith. Additional Comments: Note from Connie: In hunting this tombstone in Tuckston Cemetery, I did not find one. But found on in the Lester Cemetery off Cherokee Road. Toombstone reads: Nelms Willie Catherine 10 Sep 1875 – 28 June 1903, “Come ye blessed”. The Lester Cemetery off the Lexington Rd, turn onto Cherokee Road is very close to the present day Tuckston Methodist Church.
