Parr Well known citizen passed away suddenly on Sunday afternoon From Tuesday’s Banner Mr. G. D. Parr died suddenly Sunday afternoon at 1:10 o’clock at his home, 1098 South Lumpkin Street. The news of his death was a shock to his host of friends throughout the city. Though Mr. Parr had been in declining health for some time it was thought Saturday evening and Sunday morning that his condition was much improved. Indeed, only a few moments before stricken, he walked out into the yard and back into the house. Mr. Parr was 61 years of age, and has lived in Athens all his life. He was at one time a member of the Parr Bros., painters, but of late years devoted his talents to the mercantile business. Mr. Parr was a good citizen a member of the First United Methodist Church, and his genial companship will be missed by his many friends. A good man has gone from among us and his memory will be cherished by those who knew and loved him best. Mr. Parr is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ophelia Blair Parr, four sons, Messrs. Emory D., Charlie W., Frank H., and Early Parr; two daughters, Misses Viola and Mabel Parr; four brothers, Messrs, V. J., M. H., B. H. and Alonzo Parr; two sisters, Mrs. W. M. Pittman and Mrs. Calvin Malcolm. The funeral services were conducted at the residence yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock by Dr. James C. Morris, assisted by Rev. Geo E. Stone. The remarks of Dr. Morris were peculiarly appropriate and were comforting to the bereaved ones. The interment was at Princeton. Six Nephews of the deceased were the pall-bearers: Messrs. Cliff, Harry, Edward, Lamar and Henry Parr and Mr. Cleveland Nichols.
