For many years he was one of the (continued on Page Two) M. H. Parr is Taken By Death At Home Sunday; Rites Today (Continued from Page One) Best known painting contractors in this section of the state, retiring only a few years since because of advanced age. His sons carried on the business established by their father. A lover of nature and the out-doors, Mr. Parr was considered an authority on hunting and fishing and his views were held in greatest esteem. He was a staunch supporter of the various game and fish laws to preserve and increase wildlife of the state, seeing in such a program this beginning of what can be easily developed into one of the best paying “crops” the farmers of Georgia can till, hereto, as has been demonstrated in many eastern; and Midwestern states. He had friends in all sections of the state, the bonds of these friendships being cemented by a common love of the great outdoors, in which he was active until a short time ago, despite the piling up of the years. He also had a great following amongst the youngsters, who delighted in gathering around him and hearing the many and interesting stories he related from his love of fishing and hunting incidents. And there are many grown-ups today in Athens and this section who made their first hunting or fishing expedition into the outdoors with Mr. Mac” as their guide and mentor and protector. His acquaintanceship was widespread and so consequently was the sadness with which news of his death was received over the city..
