Quite a number of the friends of Mr. Payne were present to pay their last tribute of affection to the memory of the deceased, and the funeral services were solemn and impressive. The services were conducted by Dr. I. S. Hopkins, pastor of the First Methodist church, of which the deceased was a member, and several beautiful hymns were sung.
