James E. Rice

 

   James E. Rice, 76, 1165 Hull Road, died Sunday, April 29.

   A native of Greenville, S.C., Mr. Rice had lived in Clarke County for 30
years.  He was a member of Hull Baptist Church, had been a Mason for 42 years
and was a member of Bethel Lodge 112, Woodruff, S.C.

   The funeral will be Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at Hull Baptist Church with the Rev.
Bobby Jones officiating.  Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.

   Survivors include his wife, Alpha Trammel Rice; a daughter, Brenda Hardeman,
Winterville; two sons, Boyce Rice and Walter Rice, Athens; three sisters, Leona
Williams and Frances Harvey, Woodruff S.C., and Beatrice Wilson, Cleveland, S.C;
a brother, Amos Rice, Woodruff, S.C.; eight grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

   Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

   Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Glen Brown Sunday School Class of
Hull Baptist Church.

   The family is at the residence and will receive friends from7-9 tonight at
Bernstein Funeral Home.
