Mr. Shackelford Died Yesterday At His Home in Attica

Sunday morning at 10 o'clock at his home near Attica in this county, Mr. Charles 
W. Shackelford passed away after an illness of several weeks. 
Mr. Shackelford had reached almost to the ninety year mark on life's journey and 
his death was not unexpected. Up to within a few months of his death he had been 
a very vigorous man and took a lively interest in all the affairs of life.
He was born in Crawfordville, but for the greater part of his life he was a 
farmer in Jackson county. He is survived by four sons, Messrs. Thomas J. 
Shackelford and Frank C. Shackelford, of Athens; Henry N. Schelford, of Attica, 
and George O. Shackelford, of Abbeville, Ga. 
Mr. Shackelford had been for the greater part of his long life a member of the 
Presbyterian church, and his funeral this afternoon was conducted by Rev. E. L. 
Hill and Rev. S. H. Cartledge.
The funeral was held at the residence of Mr. T. J. Shackelford on Milledge 
avenue at 3:30 o'clock and the interment was in Oconee cemetery.
The following were the active pallbearers at the funeral services: Messrs. T. W. 
Reed, H. J. Rowe, E. H. Younkin, Horace M. Holden, W. J. Peeples, George E. 
Scott, Abit Nix, and J. W. Barnett.
Honorary pallbearers were Messrs. W. S. Holman, T. G. Hadaway, W. J. Morton, S. 
F. Storey, J. E. Talmadge, Bud Wier, E. K. Lumpkin, L. E. Brooks, Sylvanus 
Morris, and S. P. Orr.
