Wills 1859-1885, Page 296 Written: February 29, 1868 Recorded: May 9, 1873 Will of William A. Carr, Feb. 29, 1868 I William A. Carr, of the town of Athens, in the county of Clarke, State of Georgia, being of sound mind and disposing memory, and well knowing the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death ???? whilst in health and in the full enjoyment and possession of all my facilities, make, ordain and establish this insturment, all in my own hand writing to be my last will and testament, hereby revolking all others which I have heretofore made. 1st--- My will and desire is that all my just debts which are very few be paid by my Executrix and executor's herein after named for in the proceeds of my estate. 2nd--- I give and bequeath to my daughter, Florida C. Carr, the house and lot No. 29 on the west side of the Street fronting my dwelling (which said street I call Carr Street) containing one acre and my Gold lot no 110 in the 3rd district of Raburn county containing four hundred & ninety acres more or less, known as the lot Hemphill settled on, this together with what I have heretofore given her will make her equal with what I have given my three sons, Thomas, William and Elijah each. 4th---My Will & desire is that my beloved wife Jane Carr and my daughter, Florida C. Carr, be permitted to remain & occupy Un??????ted & free of rent my dwelling & the reinforcement(?) around the same in the rock wall and the lots fenced adjoining and near the ??? during the life time of my said wife, Jane and my daughter, Florida. 5th---My will and desire is that all the rest ????? of my estate of whatever it may consist be equally divided into five equal parts & ???? to be given to my wife, Jane Carr, to be by her enjoyed during her natural life and to be by her disposed of among my children and grand children as she may destine. 6th---the other four portions to be given one to my son, Thomas W. Carr, one portion to my son, Elijah W. Carr, one portion to my daughter, Florida C. Carr, and one portion to my two little grand children, Mary Bryant Thomas, and Susan Agnes Thomas the children of my dear departed daughter, Susan, that was the wife of John G. Thomas, which said grand children I have raised & feel as much attached to them as I do to mine own children and in their portion is to be the Overstreet tract of land in Leon County, Florida containing the hundred & forty acres which said tract of land I have already conveyed to my son, Thomas W. Carr, in trust for the said Mary Bryant & Susan Agnes Thomas. 7th---To my ungratefull, unnatural(?), & unkind son, William W. Carr, I give his note which I hold for one hundred dollars that with what I have heretofore given him is all I intend him to have of my estate for his ungratefull & unkind treatment to me during the years of 1866 and 1867. 8th---Lastly, I constitute and appoint my beloved wife, Jane Carr, Executrix, & my son, Thomas W. Carr, and my friends Albion P. Dearing, Frances Epps, & John Epps Executors of this my last will and testament. Signed, Sealed and witnessed in presence of us this 29th February, 1868. William A. Orr and Seaborn J. Mays, the three ?????? being witness to the within and foregoing Will of William A. Carr, late of said County, deceased, who our oath say that they ??? said deceased sign and seal said instrument and heard him acknowledge the same to be his last Will and testament that at the time of his so doing he was of sound and disposing mind and memory, that they signed the same as witnesses in the presence of each other and of the Testator and at his request.
