Written: July 8, 1845 Recorded: October 7, 1845 Will of Martha Stroud State Of Georgia Clarke County I, Martha Stroud of the county and state aforesaid, being of sound mind and memory but impressed with the belief that all human events are uncertain and life among the rest, do make, constitute and appoint this to be my last will and testament. Item 1. It is my will that all my just debts be paid as soon as possible. Item 2. I give and bequeath to four of my children, to wit: William Stroud, Eli Stroud, Polly Haygood, and Orion Stroud, one sixth part to each of them respectively of all my property and assets both real and personal. Item 3. I give and bequeath to the widow and children of my son Levi, deceased, one sixth part of the value of my Negroes and one sixth part of the amounts of the sale of all the rest of my property, share and share alike, to be paid to them that be of age as soon as my executor can conveniently do so after my decease, and to the rest of said heirs as they become of age. Item 4. I give and bequeath to my son Eli Stroud in trust for the use and benefit of my daughter, Sally Haygood, one sixth part of the value or proceeds of the sale of all my property both real and personal to be paid to her at such time and in such amount and things as he may think her necessities request. If any portion of said legacy or bequest remains in the hands of said trustee until after her death, my will is that such sum be equally divided between my grandson, Mark Haygood, and his children in manner aforesaid Item 5. My will and desire is that my Negroes may be divided into as few lots as possible not exceeding four in all and that my sons William, Eli, and Orion and my daughter Polly Haygood may take and keep said Negroes at their appraisement value. Item 6. I hereby appoint my two sons, William Stroud and Orion Stroud and my son-in-law William Haygood, executors to this my last will and testament. In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 8th day of July 1845. Martha (her mark) Stroud In presence of: Bedford Langford, J. A. Browning Henry Stephens, Abram Doolittle, J. P.
