E. Mansfield was born in Mitchell County, Georgia April 13, 1859, a son of James Mansfield and came to Bluffton, Clay County, Georgia in November 1876. Soon after his coming to Bluffton he joined the Bluffton Baptist Church and has been a consistent member of that church ever since. In 1889 he was elected Superintendent of the Sunday School and served in that capacity for forty three years, during which time the Bluffton Church was noted for a strong and up-to-date Sunday School under his leadship. And it was due to his energy, and devotion to his duty and his faithful attendance during all these years. He was also a Deacon of the Bluffton Baptist Church for a long number of years. He was always found to be ready whenever called upon to give his energy and work to the upbuilding of his church and community. He is now an old man and he and his wife reside in Bluffton, Georgia, and he is a constant attendant upon the church, although he is too feeble to take a very active part. For fifty years he has been the outstanding member of his church. His influence still lives and will for years to come. The church has been fortunate indeed in having him as its member and leader. May he have many more happy years. 1860 Mitchell County Ga.
