Data gathered and compiled from various members of PETER LEE and ELIZABETH ANN NICHOLSON LEE'S family and grandchildren, through several years research. PETER LEE was born June 1813, possibly Washington County, Georgia. Died March 1884 in McCullough County, Texas, near Mercury, Texas. He is buried at Richland Springs, Texas, San Saba, Co.,about 16 miles from Placid Texas, in an old cemetery(possibly named Hall). Epitaph: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord. ELIZABETH A. LEE, wife of Peter Lee, born at Havana, FL, near Tallahassee, 21 Dec 1826. Died September 1881. Buried Richland Springs cemetery, San Saba, Co, in an old cemetery. (possibly same cemetery as her husband). Epitaph: Weep not, she is at rest. The about authentic information furnished to me by a granddaughter, Mrs. O.H. Gault,(mother, MAGGIE LEE, grandfather, ELIAS J.SANDIFER LEE, gg-grandfather, PETER LEE) Placid, Texas 1952. PETER LEE owned a home or plantation at Bluffton, Clay County, Georgia, near Ft. The family lived there until after the Civil War, moving to Desoto County, Mississippi, in 1865. The family owned 24 slaves, as listed in the 1860 Georgia Census. Personal property in that census was listed at $16,500 and real estate value was $5,500. PETER LEE served as a representative of Clay County after it's organization in 1854. He resigned to join the Confederate Army, as did his son, ELIAS J.SANDIFER LEE and also his son-in-law, JOHN BRYANT JONES. After the war he moved to Desoto County, Mississippi, near Love Station, this was in 1865. About 1870, he moved to Tate County, Mississippi. Circa 1876, PETER LEE, his son ELIAS, son-in-law, JOHN B.
