An attck of apoplexy which he suffered Monday night resulted in the death of John D Brooks, early Tuesday morning at his home in the eastern part of Clay county, near Enterprise church. Before retiring Monday night he complained of headache, but this did not occasion alarm. He went to sleep and did not ever return to consciousness. The remains were interred in the cemetery at Mars Hill, Calhoun county, Wednesday. Mr. Brooks was a farmer in comfortable circumstances, and by those who knew him was looked upon as a man of the highest integrity. He had been in this county since early manhood. His age was about 60 years. Surviving him are his wife and one son and three daughters: Luther Brooks, Mrs. R. H. Lee, Miss Lonie Brooks and Miss Clyde Brooks, all of Clay county.
