His many friends in Clay county will be pained to learn that Mr. Charles Ashley of near Days Cross Roads has been critically ill ever since, last Saturday from a severe stroke of paralysis which came on him last Saturday afternoon. Mr. Ashley has suffered intense pain and it has been reported in Fort Gaines that he was dead one or two times this week, but close inquiry would prove the report false, however they have expected him to die every day this week. Mr. Ashley is well known throughout this entire section, and he is known to be a good Christian gentleman and a thorough business man. We join Mr. Ashley's many friends in hoping that he will soon be well again. LATER--After the above was put in type learn that Mr. Ashley passed away Wednesday afternoon at 6 o'clock and that the remains were interred in the cemetery at New Hope church Thursday afternoon. We extend condolence to the bereaved relatives of the deceased."
