BELISLE SUCCUMBS AFTER LONG ILLNESS Mr. I. P. Belisle passed away Friday morning at Britt's Infirmary, in Eufaula, Ala., following a long period of ill health. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church in Fort Gaines with Rev. A. B. Hawkes officiating. Pallbearers were J. B. Grimsley, Charlie Ross, Jim Gibbons, Clay Fain, T. W. Mobley and L. L. Gwyn. Idus Paris Belisle was born June 22, 1877 to William and Ella Birdsong Belisle. He was a native of Fort Gaines, as was his mother. His father was one of five brothers who migrated to Georgia from Paris, France. Orphaned at the age of seven and nurtured by kindly foster parents, he developed, as he grew to manhood, an appreciative fellowhood with all mankind. No man was ever turned away from his door hungry. For several years he conducted a flourishing market and grocery business, but had been connected with the J. B. Grimsley & Co. Store as meat cutter for the past few years. Mr. Belisle was a member of the Baptist church of Fort Gaines, which he had served as deacon for a number of years. He was also a Mason and a member of the Knights of Pythias. He was first married to Mattie Louise Clark, in 1902 at Fort Gaines. At the death of his wife in Blakely, Ga., six years later, he was left with three small motherless children, Hattie Bellisle [sic], and Irwin Bellisle [sic], now of Shawnee, Okla., and Minnie Louise Bellisle [sic], now of Gladewater, Tex. On May ll, 1909 he was united in marriage to Miss Lena Arnold, who, which their six children, survives. Children of the second union are: Mrs. Leslie Bruce, Russell, Hubert, Carrilyn, Sara and Ruth Belisle, all of Fort Gaines.
