A father in Israel hath fallen! A christian soldier is gone! Deacon JOAB HOBBS fell asleep in Jesus at his residence near Cotton Hill, Clay county, Ga., on Tuesday, October 6. He was born in Sampson county, N.C., June 14th, 1801--moved to Houston county, Ga., and united with the Baptist Church, A.D., 1830; and A. D., 1837, was ordained as deacon. From the date of his union with the Church ,he led a consistent, exemplary christian life to the day of his death. He, like Paul, could have exclaimed, "I am ready now to be offered up; I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is a crown laid up for me which the Lord the righteous Judge shall give me in that day." AMICUS.
