"At about 2 o'clock last Friday afternoon the pure spirit of little Jamie Williams McAllister, the 19 months old daughter of Col. and Mrs. R. C. McAllister, took its flight from earth to the habitation of the angels. The little one had been desperately ill for about one week with complications attending a severe attack of whooping cough, and from the very beginning of her illness but little hope was entertained of her recovery, but the almost certainty of the fatal nature of the illness did not lessen the shock nor deaden the force of the blow sustained by the devoted parents. The little body was laid to rest in the cemetery here Friday morning at 11 o'clock, attended by a very large concourse of sympathizing friends of the parents, attesting their popularity as well as the sympathy extended. The burial services were conducted by Rev. D. D. Bateman, in the absence of the Presbyterian pastor, Rev. W. J. Atwood, who was at Bainbridge and who could not attend. The sympathies of our entire people are with the stricken parents."
