"Some weeks ago Mrs. S. R. Weaver was called to the bedside of her mother, Mrs. Abner Turnipseed, who used to live in this county, but was then living at Geneva, Ala. Mrs. Turnipseed had sustained fatal injuries from fire. She was helping to prepare dinner when her apron caught fire. She being 73 years of age and her eyesight not good, did not know of her peril until the flames reached her face, and she was burned so badly that she died after lingering and suffering the most intense agony for four weeks. Amid all of her suffering the same quiet, gentle, dignified christian spirit, which was her chief characteristic in life, so permeated the room, that even when in the strong embrace of death, she called her children and friends to witness the fact that she could rejoice in the christian religion even in the hour of death."
