She was the mother of Messrs. J. D. and F. M. McKissack, of our town, who, accompanied by their wives, departed early Friday morning on the sad errand of attending the burial of their mother, who was interred at Columbia Saturday. Mrs. McKissack was born in Virginia in 1827, and had lived a part of her life in that state, in Texas, in Georgia, and finally in Alabama. She was married in Early county, to Mr. Archie McKissack, which union was blessed with six sons and four daughters. She was known in every condition of life for her unfaltering faith in the christian religion, and was for many years of her life a devoted and consistent member of the Methodist church, and departed this life in the full trimph [sic] of a a living faith, though the latter years of her life were full of great bodily suffering. A good woman has gone to her reward, and left to those behind the rich legacy of a good name."
