Mrs. Margureet A. McCray died at the McCrae residence in Henry county Alabama about 2 miles West of Fort Gaines Monday last at eleven o'clock a.m. and her body was buried in the family grave yard Tuesday at 4 o'clock p.m., Rev. D. D. Bateman pastor of the Fort Gaines Methodist church conducting the burial service. Mrs. McRae's death was not sudden or unexpected to those nearest and dearest to her. About eight years ago she had a stroke of paralysis from the effect of which she never recovered and while her confinement to a sick room was long she bore her affliction with fortitude and christian resignation. Throughout her long sickness she was attended by those whose chief pleasure it was to minister to her wants and sothe her pain as far as it could be done. Mrs. McRae was born near the scene of her death, in August 1835, and had lived well nigh the 68 years of her life in the community in which she died. She was a member of the Presbyterian church; in fact it may be said that she was born and bred from infancy in that sacred institute and was indeed a beautiful christian character. Her life abormded in good deeds and her memory will even be cherished as a sweet incense. To the immediate members of her family who are so sadly bereaved we would say she is not dead, only summoned by the master to a higher sphere to live in a brighter kindlier clime."
