Colly came to her death in the following manner: It appears that she had been in the field where her husband and brother were burning sedge and log-heaps. About 10 o’clock she started to the house and picked up some pieces with which to cook. It is supposed that there was fire on the pieces, for she had not gone far before her clothes caught on fire, and being in the midst of some broom sedge, she was soon enveloped in flames. Her screams attracted the attention of her brother, but too late to render any assistance; the fire was extinguished, but her eyes, nose and ears were burned to a crisp. She lived several hours after the sad occurrence. Mr. Colley lives near Bluffton, Clay county, Ga."
