"Mr. Samuel T. Woodham departed this life at his home near here about ten days ago. Mr. Woodham lost his wife about four years ago, living him with six children, four girls and two boys, ---one an infant. He moved down here after the death of his wife and stopped with Mr. J. T. Pritchett. Mr. Woodham, though a stranger, made friends wherever he went. He was never known to murmuer or complain, but always met his friends with a smile. He never united with any religious denomination, but had the appearance of a christian. His remains were carried to Mar's Hill for interment, after a service by Rev. Mr. Hanks. The body was then laid to rest until the Saviour shall call him up higher. He leaves six sorrowing children and a host of friends to mourn his loss. May the Comforter Divine guide and direct the little ones, and comfort and protect them from all harm." "A Friend."
