She was the wife of the late J.H. "Red" Hall Jr. of Newton and daughter of the late R.C. and Susie McAllister of Fort Gaines. Miss Virginia of "Ginger" as she was affectionately known, grew up in Fort Gaines, attended Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville, and then returned to Fort Gaines where she taught second grade until she married Red Hall in 1940. Red Hall worked for the Coca- Cola Co., and he and his new bride resided for short periods in Chicago, Jacksonville, Denver and St. Louis before returning to their beloved Georgia in 1948. They settled in Decatur where Ginger and her beloved "Red" continued their productive and giving lives, while raising their son, Jimmy. She was an active member of the Decatur Presbyterian Church as well as many civic organizations. In later years Miss Virginia returned to two of her life's greatest joys, children and teaching, taking a position as a kindergarten teacher at the Medlock Presbyterian Church where she happily taught for many years. In 1995 "Ginger" returned to Fort Gaines and her beloved family home where she spent her remaining years surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was a faithful member of the Ft. Gaines Presbyterian Church. She was predeceased by her very dear sisters Robbie Hun and Annie Susie, and her devoted brother John Turner. She is survived by her loving son, James Henderson Hall III of Virginia Beach, VA; her devoted nieces Peggy Brown and husband, Buck and Sue Cook and husband Claude, a host of great nieces and nephews, her caring friend Bill Cartledge, and her special caregivers Ammie Williams, Annie Cannon and Doris Wells. A celebration of life will be held at the Ft. Gaines Presbyterian Church, Monday, April 11 at 2 p.m. with burial following in the New Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the J.H. "Red" Hall Scholarship Fund, c/o Mercer University School of Pharmacy, 3001 Mercer University Dr., Atlanta, GA. 30341 or to the Ft. Gaines Presbyterian Church. We shall miss her sweet sweet smile. Lunsford Funeral Home, Cuthbert, GA. 229-732-2148.
