Myra was born on December 28th, 1914 in Edison Georgia, the daughter of Ed and Stella Poston Sheppard. Myra had eight half brothers and sisters. Ed Sheppard was a pioneer citizen of Edison having settled there in 1878. Her mother, Stella, was a schoolteacher from Eufaula, Alabama.
