Memorial services will be conducted Sunday. December 3. 2006. at 4 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church near Ft. Gaines. The Rev. Ralph Estes will officiate. Mr. Lindsey was born May 17, 1946 in Randolph County, son of Byrle Watford Lindsey and the late Hoke Smith Lindsey. He was a retired farmer and salesman, attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and Georgia Southwestern College. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and had served in the Georgia National Guard. Survivors include his wife. Jan Gavin Lindsey and mother. Byrle W. Lindsey of Ft. Gaines: a son. Hoke Smith Lindsey III and his wife. Marilyn of Birmingham; a daughter. Caroline L. Wommack and her husband. George Michael of St. Simons Island: three sisters, Janice and her husband. Charles Sheppard of Albany, Judith and her husband. George Jones of Fort Gaines and Peggy and her husband. Ben Morgan of Ovieda, FL. a grandson. George Michael Wommack Jr. of St. Simons Island and number of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
