FT. GAINES SENTINEL, JAN 15 1897
DR. W.J. RYDER, MUDERER OF MISS SALLIE EMMA OWEN, WHO IS CONFINED IN MUSCOGEE 
COUNTY JAIL, TRIED TO COMMIT SUICIDE SUNDAY AT 11 O’CLOCK.  HE COMPLETELY 
LINED HIS CEL WITH BLANKETS THEN SET FIRE TO HIS BEDDING.  THE FIRE WAS 
DISCOVERED IN TIME AND PUT OUT.
