He died on Sunday, the 8th instant, of the consumption, aged twenty-nine years. The Major left his residence a week previous, for Florida, and alas never returned. He died at General Irwin’s in Alabama, in one short hour after he reached there, four miles only from Fort Gaines, his home. His remains were interred in the city of this place, the next day. Major Walker was strictly an honest man, “the noblest work of God.” He has left an only son, and a bereaved widow, to mourn their untimely loss. “Man born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble.” Fort Gaines, June 11, 1834.
