Gaines Sentinel, Feb 21 1896 ....(illegible) it was thought a visit home would improve her health, but she continued to grow worse and was never again able to take the return trip home. Mrs. Pipkin was a most estimable Christian lady with many noble traits of character that endeared her to all who knew her. Her death has enveloped the entire community in a pall of sorrow. She was the wife of Prof. J.W. Pipkin, besides whom she leaves several children to mourn her loss. The Sentinel respectfully joins their many friends in sincere condolence. Additional Comments: One month earlier another article mentions Mrs. J.W. Pipkin visiting relatives at Midway, Alabama. This may be the town referred to in the obituary.
