He attended public school in Fort Gaines, Georgia, and college at The Citadel, Charleston, South Carolina. In 1941, he graduated from the University of Georgia where he was a member of Phi Theta Fraternity. Mr. Puckett entered the United States Army upon graduation from college and served in Europe during WWII. He was later stationed on Guam. After leaving the Army, he lived in Bucks County, Pennsylvania where he owned a commercial design firm. He was married to the late Harriet Kaufman Puckett. Mr. Puckett lived briefly in North Carolina and then returned to Georgia as vice-president for design with Ball-Stalker in Atlanta. He retired in 1981 and traveled extensively. He moved to Macon in 2001. His parents and siblings predeceased him. Two nephews and a niece, and their spouses survive: Albert S. Killingsworth, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth of Southern Shores, N.C.; C. Walt Killingsworth of Fort Gaines, Georgia, and Ann Puckett Anderson and husband, Andy of Abbeville, Alabama. Also surviving are great nephews and nieces, Albert S. Killingsworth, III, Evelyn K. Murphy, Dorothy K. Toolan, Walt Killingsworth, Amy Killingsworth, Frank Michel Killingsworth, Theresa Anderson, Barbara Anderson, Dian Anderson, Robin Anderson, and James Anderson. There are nine great-great nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church, Fort Gaines, GA with Rev. Jeff Hines officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at the New Park Cemetery in Fort Gaines, GA, directed by Lunsford Funeral Home of Cuthbert, Georgia. A Celebration of Life will be held in The Grande at Carlyle Place, Macon, GA on Sunday, July 18, at 2:30 in the afternoon, Harts Mortuary directing. A Memorial Service will be held at Virginia Highland Church, Atlanta, GA, on Sunday, August 15, 2004, at 2:30 in the afternoon. Rev. Tim Shirley officiating.
