DOTHAN EAGLE
Annie Ruth Sanders Annie Ruth Sanders of the Mount Vernon Community, Ft. 
Gaines, GA, passed away early Friday morning, November 26, 2010 in SE Alabama 
Medical Center in Dothan. She was born October 12, 1910 in Crenshaw County, 
Alabama to the late Samuel Bowen and the late Fannie Bell Wilson Bowen. 
Visitation was held Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Lunsford Funeral Home in 
Cuthbert, GA. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010 
at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Hughes officiating, with burial 
in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 
Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 434, Ft. Gaines, GA 39851. Mrs. Sanders was united in 
Holy matrimony on May 9, 1942 to the late John Cleon Sanders of Ft. Gaines. 
She was a devoted mother and grandmother, beloved aunt and loving foster 
parents. Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her mother and father; five 
brothers and sisters; her husband Cleon; son-in-law, David Wetherby; and a 
granddaughter Leah Stokes. Surviving relatives include three daughters, Glenda 
S. Lewis (Billy), Ft. Gaines, Vickie S. Wetherby, Ft. Gaines, and Madelyn S. 
Pruet (Arthur), Tuscaloosa, AL; one son, John Cleon Sanders, Jr. (Joyce) of 
Ft. Gaines; one sister, Julia B. Edge, Ft. Deposit, AL; two sisters-in-law, 
Neva S. Chance (Carl), Dothan, AL and Janie B. Bowen, Ft. Deposit, AL; six 
grandchildren; seven great-grand-children; and numerous nieces and nephews.
