Home of John Dill located at the corner of Washington and Commerce Streets was built in the late 1820s. Dill was one of the pioneers in the area. He served in the militia and was attached to Fort Gaines. Later he operated a mercantile business with John W. Sutlive. He also had interests in a tannery, a harness and shoe factory, a brickkiln, and a cotton warehouse. This home was converted into a hotel. DATE OF PHOTO UNKNOWN.
