R. E. Morrow, one of the oldest and most prominent citizens of Clayton County, died at his home in Jonesboro last Sunday evening. “Uncle Red,” as he was familiarly known, was 86 years old. When the Georgia session convention was held at Milledgeville in 1860 he was there as one of the members of the great meeting which meant so much to the State. He represented Clayton several years in the legislature, and was a member from Henry County before Clayton County was made. It was mainly through his efforts that Clayton County was formed, it being he who first suggested the idea of making a new county out of a portion of Henry.
