A native of Homerville, GA. Mrs. Futch was born September 9, 1926, daughter of the late William P. and Alice Griffis Stalvey. She was a homemaker but had previously worked for many years as a food service worker for the Columbia County School System in Lake City, FL. She also served on the Democratic Party Committee of Columbia County. Her church membership was at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband S.S. “Pete” Futch. Survivors include, three daughters, Sarah Hall and husband Buddy of Lexington, KY, Mary Alice Daniels and Ron of Pearson, Betty Smith and husband L.G. of Pearson; son, Billy Futch of Lake City, FL; sister, Iona Smith of Homerville; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hall and John Garcia of Albuquerque, NM, Ben and Sonya Daniels of Pearson, Brett Daniels of Pearson, Danny and Tina Smith of Pearson, Michael and Valerie Smith of Pearson, and Steven Futch of Lake City FL; great- grandchildren, Kelsey Daniels, Kelley Daniels, Wesley Daniels, Brayden Smith, Kasey Smith, Gevin Smith, and Easten Smith of Pearson, GA, Blake Futch, Blaine Futch, Emma Futch and Ian Futch of Lake City, FL; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Futch were held Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Gilliard and Rev. Jimmy Futch officiating. Special musical selections included “Beulah Land” and “When I Travel my Last Mile” rendered by soloist Derrick Soles with taped accompaniment and “Amazing Grace” rendered by the attended congregation with Derrick Soles leading. Soft music for the prelude and the postlude was played by Lisha Young pianist. The interment followed in Shiloh Cemetery in Homerville, GA. Serving as active pallbearers were Wayne Giddens, Henry Smith, Jr., Lee Chancey, Allie Purvis, Fred Taft, and Dewayne McClellan. Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson, GA was in charge of the arrangements.
