Local News

Mr. H.J. Peagler, Sr., one of South Georgia’s most distinguished men, and an 
uncle of Mr. H.J. Peagler, Jr., cashier of the Farmers & Merchants Bank, of 
Butler, died suddenly Friday afternoon about 2 o’clock from acute indigestion, 
at his home at Homerville.  He was 52 years of age and one of the most highly 
esteemed men in his section of the state.  Interment took place at Homerville 
Sunday, the funeral service being attended by Mr. H.J. Peagler, of this place.
