Mr. Smith was born November 1, 1922 in Homerville, GA to the late Benjamin Franklin Smith and Rebecca Delk Smith. He lived all of his life in Clinch County and was maintenance supervisor for the Clinch County Board of Education for many years. He attended the Homerville Congregational Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his first wife, Elowine Marie Morgan Smith, son-in-law, Donald W. Morrison; two brothers, Willie 5/8 Smith and Neil C. Smith. Survivors are his wife, Rachel Holton Smith, Jacksonville, FL; two daughters and son law, Donald W. Morrison; two brothers, Willie 5/8 Smith and Neil C. Smith. Survivors are his wife, Rachel Holton Smith, Jacksonville, FL; two daughters and son-in-law, Patsy S. and Willis Bennett, Manor and Connie S. Morrison, Argyle; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Johnny and Vivian Smith, Homerville and Dr. Terry Smith, Thomasville; eight grandchildren, Hugh and Cheryl Bennett, Kathy B. & Mike Yawn, Lisa M. & Lance Heard, Amy M. and Stephen Crosby, Don & Donna Morrison, Craig and Melissa Smith, Josh and Crystal Smith and Becky S. & Caleb Powel; twenty one great grandchildren; Coleson Bennett, Hailee Bennett, Ansley Bennett, Eason Bennett, Josh Peagler, Chase Peagler, Will Yawn, Drew Yawn, Kate Yawn, Tyler Heard, Garrett Heard, Reece Heard, Garrison Crosby, Benjamin “Ben” Crosby, Logan Morrison, Lauren Morrison, Lacey Morrison, Katherine Smith, Jonathan Smith and Lexie Smith; one great great grandchild, Hayden Wildes and a number of other relatives. Funeral services for Mr. Smith were held Monday, April 15, 2013 at eleven o’clock from the Homerville Congregational Methodist Church. Officiating was Rev. Talmadge Guess and Rev. Dwayne Tanner. Interment was in the Pine Forest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hugh Bennett, Don Morrison, Craig Smith, Josh Smith, Tyles Hear Heard, Garrison Crosby. Donna Morrison sang Home Sick and W.G. Smith sang Amazing Grace. Roundtree Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
