The Acworth friends of Mr and Mrs P C Carnes of Macon will be interested to know that they have a young son at their home, born Wednesday. Mr and Mrs Zol L McLain have returned to Acworth from Atlanta and will make their home here. Mr McLain will engage in the mercantile business Jan. 1. John A Gladden has gone to Albertville, Ala., near which place he recently bought a farm. His family will not leave until a week or ten days later. We regret to see these good citizens leave our community, but we wish them well. The body of Mrs T R Jarman, an aged lady, was shipped here Wednesday for interment. She formerly lived near Acworth, but had been in the paupers' home near Marietta, where she died Tuesday. Rev T O Moncrief, who has served the Acworth Baptist church this year, preached his farewell last Sunday. He has not yet decided where he will locate next year, but expects to remain in Acworth until the latter part of the month. Mr and Mrs D F McClatchy Jr of Marietta were in the city this week, visiting the family of Mr Orlando Awtrey. They speak of moving to Atlanta soon. Mr McClatchey is located there as special agent of the Southern Bell Telephone Co. D F McClatchey, special agent of the Southern Bell Telephone Co., stated that the company had secured 61 subscribers in the country adjacent to Acworth. This will give Acworth free telephone connection with a large number of the farmers in the country, and as the town already has free connection with Kennesaw, Acworth will be the center of quite a large continguous territory. The Bank of Acworth will be open for business. The cashier, Mr Kendrick, will reach Acworth by that time and the organization will be made by the election of officers. A large vault has been built and the house thoroughly remodeled, making a very pretty and commodious room for the bank headquarters. No pains or expense have been spared in making everything neat and attractive about the bank. - Post File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/cobb/newspapers/acworthn1845gnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.7 Kb
