The guests were: Mrs John BURTON of Athens; Mrs John LEWIS of Cartersville, and Mrs Harold HAWKINS of Marietta. Mr W E QUEENER's many Acworth friends were shocked by the news of his terrible accident, an explosion in the chemical laboratory at the G M C, Milledgeville, in which his eyes were badly injured. Mr QUEENER was formerly superintendent of the Acworth school. Mrs John BURTON of Athens and Mrs N S KITCHEN of Birmingham, Ala., are visiting their sisters, Mrs D H COLLINS and Miss Nolla BARRETT. Mrs Alvin SMITH of Macon, Mrs John LEWIS of Cartersville, and Mrs Harold HAWKINS of Marietta were recent visitors to relatives in Acworth. Miss Mildred PHILLIPS is at home from a visit to Florida. Mrs Fannie MITCHELL is improving after a slight illness. Misses Pauline CARR and Annie Lou WILLIAMS entertained some of the High School and some of the visiting college boys and girls at a very delightful party Saturday evening. On Friday night the Juniors entertained the Seniors at a very pretty party at the home of the Misses PATTON. Among our boys who have come home are John LUNSFORD and John LEMON. The latter is on a furlough from the USS Dixie, now stationed at Philadelphia. Dr W C HUMPHRIES was called to Atlanta Saturday to see Mrs M E WATSON, a former resident of Acworth, who had suffered a slight stroke of facial paralysis. Misses Ray and Dorothy MITCHELL spent the week-end at home, the former from the Agricultural College at Monroe, where she teaches English, and the latter from GNIC, Milledgeville. Miss Lillian McMILLAN has returned from a house party at Milledgeville. Mrs Archie McARTHUR of Atlanta is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs C M LOVINGOOD. Messrs George McMILLAN and Stokey NORTHCUTT, of Oglethorpe College, spent the week-end at home. Mrs Mary W TRIPPE has returned home from a month's visit to relatives in Atlanta. Lieut W L LEMON is expected home from France any day. Rev and Mrs M R GADDIS and little son, "Billy," are visiting friends in Acworth. Miss Annie MOORE visited friends in Marietta and Kennesaw last week. Miss Lutie ABBOTT has returned from a visit to Atlanta. Misses Mabel JOHNSON and Lucile BAILEY spent Friday shopping in Atlanta.
