Mrs Penn Mitchell and son, Francis, spent last week in Emerson. Mrs Stewart of Powder Springs visited Mrs E R Bate and family last week. Mr Joseph Rainey, after an illness of several weeks, has about recovered. Miss Oneida Phillips returned Saturday from Menlo, Ga., where she has been teaching. Mrs D F McClatchey of Marietta has been visiting relatives in Acworth for several days. Mrs Ada Lemon and son of Anniston, Ala., have been visiting Mrs Eliza Lemon on Wall Street. Mrs L A Rainey is rapidly improving after her recent operation at one of the Atlanta hospitals. Mr Charles M Gray, age about 75 years, committed suicide at his home about ten miles south of Acworth, in Paulding county, Tuesday night. Mr and Mrs D H Collins entertained at dinner Tuesday evening, in compliment to Mr and Mrs Lemon Awtrey, who were recently married. The Acworth Cotton Manufacturing Co. still cannot supply the demands for their product. This company is getting out a high grade yarn and has built a reputation on its merits. Cards have been received announcing the graduation of Miss Annie Lee McGee from Washington Christian College, Washington D C, and Miss Lulu Mitchell from Wesleyan Female College of Macon. Mr J N Johnston visited Cincinnati and Louisville and also attended the Southern Baptist convention at Louisville. He also enjoyed a delightful trip to Mammoth Cave and other points of interest last week. - Post. SMYRNA Mr Alex Winkers of Savannah spent two weeks vacation with friends in our town, returning home last Saturday night. Smyrna High School closed a most successful year last Friday with appropriate exercises and now the children enjoy anticipated vacation days. Smyrna Social Club took a strawride of three miles last Wednesday, calling at the home of Miss Ollie Daniells, where the usual business of the club was gone through with, after which a study of Longfellow was indulged in; also, a "Witty" contest was held. Miss Ida Gilbert, being most successful, was awarded a very pretty vase as a prize. A dainty lunch of tea and salads was served. The club is scheduled to meet at the residence Miss Mira Ruff, June 16th. Mr Henry Gautschey of this place and Mr W T Brown of Gilmore will represent Nickajack Lodge at the annual session of the Grand Lodge of Odd Fellows in Thomasville, May 27th and 28th. Mr and Mrs A W Suttles leave Monday morning for Thomasville, where they will attend the session of the Grand Lodge of Odd Fellows, May 25th to 28th.
