The Cherokee Advance  5 Feb 1886 P 3 February 5, 1886
Joe Haywood has been arrested as the murderer of Charles Howard, at Marietta, 
last week.  The noose of circumstantial evidence is being drawn closely and too 
comfortably about his neck.  The woman had not been arrested yet. It is now 
thought Howard was killed by mistake.
