Parties standing near the railroad the other evening about eight o'clock saw a negro with a sack on his shoulder attempting to get on a freight train. He was arrested. The sack was found to contain a pig that had been stolen from one of our citizens. The negro was bound over and Deputy Sheriff Ed WILLIAMS carried him to Marietta. The Austell high school opened Monday. Professors John MABLE and J G CAMP are both competent teachers and will give us one of the best schools in the state. Miss Julia PIERCE has returned to Wesleyan College. Misses Susan MOREHEAD, Julia and Susie PIERCE, Messrs Harvey JONES, Oscar GIFFORD and T W NORWOOD visited Kennesaw Marble Works and mountain on Tuesday the 3rd. With the beautiful weather and pleasant party the day was enjoyed by all. While the Sifter was returning from supper the other night during the rain he, his umbrella, and the parsonage fence, got seriously tangled up. Should this occur again it will be necessary for our Methodist bretheren to rebuild their fence and saddest of all the Journal will need a correspondent.
