At 2 o’clock he went out to see how she was getting along and she was missing. He got a lantern and tracked her and footprints of a man out Waddell street to Atlanta street. There he summoned Sheriff Frey, who hitched up his horse and they followed the tracks of the man and cow until they reached the corporate limits of Atlanta about 5 o’clock Saturday morning, where they overtook the thief with the cow. His name is Butler Jones, colored, about 23 years of age and whose home is in this city. Sheriff Frey returned to the city on an electric car with the negro by 7 o’clock and placed him in jail.
