The Marietta Journal February 14, 1897
ACWORTH

Mr Tom Davenport, who lived near this place, died on last Tuesday night, aged 90
years.  He had been in feeble health for some time and his death was not
unexpected to his relatives and friends.  The funeral services were conducted by
Rev G T Bourne on Wednesday afternoon and he was laid to rest in Mars Hill
cemetery.  He leaves a wife and seven children to mourn his death and to whom we
extend our sympathy.

Mr C P McLain was walking through the yard at his home on Sunday afternoon, when
he slipped on the ice and fell, cutting a gash in his forehead and bruising
himself up in such a way as to render him helpless.  He is confined to his bed,
but it is hoped he will be up in a few days.

LOST MOUNTAIN

Mr Senate Goodwin of Knoxville, Tenn., came down last week to spend a few days
with his parents, Mr and Mrs J S Goodwin.

Mr W T Robinson's family are recovering from a severe spell of grip.

Mr Sam Collins has been confined to his bed for several days with grip.
