On Monday he called together his children, grand-children, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, relatives and friends from far and near to celebrate the annual recurrence of the day of his nativity, for he "discovered America" first on May 21st. Early in the day the big crowd began to gather at Wright's Spring, near Bull Sluice, and it kept gathering until there were present some two hundred people. Among them were Mr O F HEMBREE and family; Mr John RUCKER (Uncle John RUCKER) and family; Mr and Mrs Sanford BRUCE; Dr and Mrs Dale E SAWYER; Mr John JOHNSON and family; Mr Jeorge JOHNSON and family; Mr Phillip JOHNSON, Mr Bob JOHNSON and family; Mr James MAXWELL and family; Mr S O MOBLEY; Mr McLEAN; Mr PETE and family of Snellville; Mr C C Foster John BARNETT and family; John BROWN and family; C J GRIGGS and family; M A GRIGGS and family; Dr HEMBREE of Atlanta; John T GRIGGS and children; Bernard AWTREY; Thomas HEMBREE of Alpharetta; Mr John B BROADWELL and wife; Mrs Jennie COX of Woodstock; and whole dozens of young men and women. And the dinner; well, one would never guess that war had been even heard of or that anybody in the world was hungry. Immense plates of fresh fish, brown and perfectly cooked "to a turn" were placed before the waiting crowd; huge plates of fine, juicy, luscious ham and big dishes of baked hen; cherry pies that were as luscious as luscious could be were abundant. And what the crowd did for that dinner was a plenty, and yet numerous baskets were taken up and enough was carried home for as many more people. We heard but one regret: That Mr HEMBREE's birthday couldn't come twice a year.
