The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church, of which he was a member, by Revs DIMON, McCOLLUM and BOND. He belonged to the Shriners and Masonic order, which had charge of the remains. Many beautiful flowers covered the grave, being sent by friends and relatives and the fraternities of which he was a member. Mr HILL was highly respected in this community, in which he was born and raised. He was the second son of John and Elvira HILL and was in his 56th year. Kennesaw has lost one of its best citizens and Cobb county has lost an upright, honorable man. We will all miss Ed HILL in this community, in the lodges, in the church and Sunday school, but his good example will live on earth and his sainted soul in heaven. He is survived by his wife, two brothers, Messrs A G and B H HILL, and one sister, Mrs Jack LUNSFORD of Acworth, who have the sympathy of the entire community. Miss Mattie BOND, daughter of Rev G S BOND, was married Sunday to Mr CLACKUM of Marietta. Miss BOND is a most lovely young woman, industrious, modest and refined, and we congratulate Mr CLACKUM on winning such a girl for a life mate. Mr Byron BROOK has enlisted with the Marines in Atlanta. He will go to Paris Island, S C. Mr and Mrs I S MORGAN of Rupert, Ga., have been visiting Mr C T MORGAN and family. Mr Jack WILSON of Walker county, who formerly lived here, came down Saturday on a visit. Mrs Lucy THOMPSON JACKSON of Atlanta has been visiting her sister, Mrs C F MILLER. Mrs MILLER had also visiting her last week, Mrs Jack FOSTER of Acworth. Mr Frank BURT, who is taking a training course at the Georgia School of Technology for army service, spent the week-end at home. Mr Charlie, who is in the mechanical department at Camp Gordon, has been on a business trip to Detroit for the government. Mrs R S EICKSON received a card Sunday morning stating that the ship her son, Mr Roy EICKSON, sailed on, had arrived safely in France. Roy enlisted about two months ago in Atlanta. Mrs M B ADAMS and Mrs Maggie SCROGGS attended the funeral of Mrs Lester McREA in Marietta Sunday week. Master Harold ADAMS, son of Mr and Mrs M B ADAMS, celebrated his sixth birthday Monday afternoon from four till six o'clock. Ice cream and cake were served and Harold received many presents that brought happiness to his heart. Mr Henry GOODWIN and Mr Lee ELLISON are visiting Mr John ELLISON and family at Montzuma. Mr Annis FOWLER of Camp Wheeler has spent five days at home. Mr and Mrs Tom FOWLER have their other twin son, Mr Otto FOWLER, at home on a visit from Camp Wheeler. Mr Ed SKELTON of Camp Wheeler came up Saturday and spent the week-end with his wife and baby. Mr Tom AUSTIN and Miss Bertha PITNER were married in Acworth last Tuesday, July 23rd, by Rev McCOY. Mr AUSTIN is the youngest son of Mr and Mrs M S AUSTIN and is an industrious young farmer. Miss PITNER is the oldest daughter of Mr and Mrs James PITNER, of the Marshill section, and is a very pretty and industrious young lady. We are wishing them much happiness, though tis war times. Mr and Mrs Walter EICKSON has moved to Marietta. Mr and Mrs Clint DARBY of Etowah, Tenn., have moved here. Mr and Mrs L C YORK, Mr and Mrs Luther ABERCROMBIE, Rev and Mrs E M DYER each announce the birth of a baby girl at their respective homes. Mrs Gussie SPRINGFIELD has been very sick. Mr Edwin THOMAS of Birmingham has been visiting relatives here.
